Kokoda Challenge
Congratulations to the three teams of 4 students who tackled the 96km walk this weekend. Jake Batey, John Steele, Luke Lennox, Nathan Schwass, Renee Casha, Leah Grech, Simon Winzar, Ryan O'loughlin, Matt Blake, Alicia Holden, Hannah Murray ,Abby Hooper, Supported by a band of family, friends and teachers the tired and footsore students walked through day and night to complete this annual challenge. This is a grueling physical and emotional task for which the students and their adult escorts have been training for several months. Ms McGovern was extremely disappointed to miss the opportunity to complete the walk this year having been one of the main support crew last year. Miss Lee bravely stepped up to the plate as an escort and was also joined by Mr Bimrose as a last minute stand in.
All the students involved, first timers as well as those walking for the second or third year, have put in a huge effort and represented their school well. Fantastic effort. We are very proud of you all.

The Home Economics Department is also proud to be associated with this event by supplying some of the meals including the Sunday morning breakfast. The Year 11 and 12 Home Ec class cooked up lasagne, pasta bake, chocolate slice and, of course, anzac biscuits. Thanks to all the mums and dads, brothers and sisters, school mates, past students and staff who turned up at all hours to the checkpoints to feed and water, tend blistered feet, hand out warm dry clothing, massage aching limbs and give moral support.
A huge thank you to Miss Donnelly, Miss Lee and Mr Bimrose as well as Jake's dad Bill Batey for taking on the adult leadership of this group.
