Student Leaders 2014 - Applications Open

Nerang State High School has started the process of selecting our student leaders for Year 12 2014. Students are now able to nominate for the prestigious leadership positions of School Captain, School Vice-Captain and School Prefect.
 
Application forms are available from the Year 11 Coordinator, Mr Jamie Quinn and are due back to the Administration Office by 3:00pm on Friday 6 September 2013.
 
Eligible applicants will then be required to prepare and present a speech to the Year 11 cohort on an Assembly in Week 11 of this term.
 
Students and staff will then be given the opportunity to vote for these students, using a preferential ballot system.
 
Finally, students will sit for a 10 minute interview with the Principal, Deputy Principal and Year Coordinator.
 
The successful applicants will be announced at the school’s annual awards night during Term 4 2013.
 
These positions are at the pinnacle of student leadership within the school, they are required to be independent, reliable and actively inspire others through their words and actions. We are looking for students the meet the following demonstrated criteria:
 
  • Presentation – consistently present yourself with pride, wearing the correct school uniform at all times.
  • Involvement – have a strong record of involvement in a range of extra-curricular activities which demonstrate your commitment to the school and the community.
  • Behaviour and Attitude – have consistently followed the schools values and rules and display a positive attitude and pride in yourself and the school.
  • Organisational Skills – demonstrated confidence and ability to speak to and organise groups. Demonstrated ability to organise your time.
  • Academic Ability – to fulfil the duty of school captain effectively, a sound academic base is needed.
  • Attendance – regular attendance must be demonstrated
  • Leadership – participation in leadership activities and/or displayed leadership conduct within the school or community
