Apprenticeships and Traineeships

School-based apprenticeships and traineeships allow students, Years 10, 11 and 12, to study for their Senior Certificate, while at the same time undertaking government approved and accredited training qualifications as paid employees.

Please note: You and your employer must seek permission and support from your school before starting a school-based apprenticeship or traineeship.

ALSO: PARENTS SHOULD BE AWARE THAT STUDENTS ENTERING YEAR 10 IN 2015 WILL REMAIN ON A FULL SCHOOL TIMETABLE WITH THE ADDITIONAL WORKLOAD FROM TAFE.

VETis Funding

Important: From 1 July 2014, each year 10, 11 or 12 student in Queensland may access ONE funded employment stream qualification while at school.

Students who at 30 June 2014 had already completed, or commenced, one or more funded positions will be eligible for one additional enrolment after 30 June 2014.

It is important that you have carefully considered your course choice before applying to TAFE or other Registered Training Organisations.  Additional qualifications will incur a "Fee for Service".
