Youth support co-ordinator

Youth support co-ordinators (YSC) are employed by Wesley Mission Brisbane (on behalf of the State Government) to work in high schools and provide welfare related services to young people. They do this by way of case management, and the development of group work programs, to assist students with the following issues:

  • At risk of disengaging from school

  • At risk of becoming homeless

  • Students living independently (This includes living with family members other than parents, living with a friend’s family, or living in supported housing.)

  • Experiencing family and/or personal crisis that is affecting their capacity to remain at school

The Youth support co-ordinator is located in the school one day per week. Referrals are made through the Guidance officer, Year co-ordinator or Deputy principal or directly to the Youth support co-ordinator.
